Jari-Matti Latvala says his Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 is fully prepared after completing 177 kilometres of testing ahead of the 2026 Rally Finland.

Latvala will once again step away temporarily from his role as Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT team principal to compete at his home event. The 41-year-old also entered the Rally2 category in Jyvaskyla during the previous two summers and finished runner-up on both occasions.

Alongside co-driver Juho Hanninen, Latvala carried out the test near Jamsa on Monday to refine the car’s setup. Rain left the road wet during the morning, although the surface retained enough grip for the pair to complete their planned programme.

“Juho and I covered 177 kilometres of testing. I was left with a really good feeling after the day,” Latvala said. “It was wet in the morning because we had a bit of rain, but fortunately the road handled the water well and didn’t become slippery.”

“I couldn’t have made the car any better. Everything has now been done and everything is ready. Now it’s all about heading into the rally,” he added.

Latvala’s car will also feature a major visual change compared with his previous appearances. The predominantly red livery has been supplemented by green and yellow following discussions with Toyota Motor Corporation chairman Akio Toyoda and input from Juha Kankkunen.

Latvala explained that green was selected to reflect Toyota’s original colour, while yellow was incorporated from Toyoda’s Rookie Racing operation in Japan. The final design combines the manufacturer’s heritage with a more modern identity.

Rally Finland begins on Thursday morning with the Ruuhimaki shakedown before the Harju city stage officially opens the event in the evening. Latvala and Hanninen will compete in Rally2 but will not be registered to score WRC2 championship points.
