Jack Miller's long MotoGP career has finally reached its end. Pramac confirmed on Thursday that the Australian rider will leave the team after the 2026 season concludes, with his next step almost certainly taking him to WorldSBK with Yamaha's factory squad.
The decision closes a 16-year chapter in the world championship for Miller, who debuted in 2011. At 31, he leaves behind a memorable legacy: four premier-class victories, 23 podiums, and two pole positions. Yet his journey has been marked by ups and downs, with consistency often proving his biggest foe.
The most iconic moment of Miller's career arguably came in 2015, when Honda promoted him directly from Moto3 to MotoGP. That bold leap is considered one of the most unusual moves of the modern era, showcasing the Japanese manufacturer's belief in his raw talent.
His first three seasons in the premier class were spent with Honda before moving to Pramac Racing in 2018. Nine podiums with Paolo Campinoti's team opened the door to the factory Ducati squad, which signed him for 2021. There, he secured three wins and 12 podiums, but inconsistent performances led Ducati's management not to renew his contract.
A move to KTM in 2023 yielded just one podium, too few to justify an extension. Ahead of the 2025 season, Campinoti came calling again, this time with Yamaha, which had just ended its partnership with Ducati. However, the M1's lack of competitiveness left Miller with no further options in MotoGP, especially with the arrival of fellow Australian Senna Agius next year putting his seat under pressure.
Yamaha director Paolo Pavesio paid tribute: "Jack joined Yamaha at an important stage of our MotoGP project and immediately became a very valuable contributor. His technical knowledge, feedback, and unwavering commitment helped us make progress in several areas."
With Pramac's seat expected to go to Moto2's Izan Guevara, Miller is now headed to WorldSBK. Yamaha Europe director Nicolo Canepa even flew to Silverstone to convince him to join the Superbike project. Everything seems set for a promising new chapter.
