An extraordinary opening-lap masterclass was delivered by Charles Leclerc at the United States Grand Prix as he stunned the paddock with a daring overtaking maneuver. Despite Ferrari's practice pace failing to translate into a front-row grid slot after qualifying fourth, the Monegasque driver immediately made his intentions clear when the lights went out.
Rocketing off the line, he swiftly swept past both Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar during a chaotic opening tour. Reflecting on the thrilling sequence of moves, he detailed how he seized the initiative around the outside of the sweeping corners because he realized there was genuine potential on the table.
"That was fun. I mean, I had quite a good start, and then I didn't want to brake too late for Turn 1, just to keep an opportunity of trying to cross back at the exit of Turn 1," Leclerc told media, including RacingNews365.

"But Lewis got very, very close, and then I used a little bit more of my battery to get alongside Max in Turns 3, 4, and 5. I didn't really know how it would go, but it was quite close, and it was fun."
Opting for a well-calculated two-stop strategy proved to be the correct path for the Maranello squad, although it ultimately fell short of catching a dominant Kimi Antonelli out front. The intense wheel-to-wheel combat ensured an entertaining afternoon from the cockpit perspective.
"I enjoyed the race. I mean, the start was fun, then later on with Lando and Max again was quite fun. So, it's one of those races where you're not getting too bored inside the cockpit, and there's something to play for," he concluded.
