Indian Motorcycle is entering a new chapter by combining industrial expansion in the United States with workforce reductions across various business areas. The iconic American brand is eliminating around 70 positions in different departments to build a more efficient structure independent of Polaris.
The announcement, made on October 28, 2026, is part of the transition process following the ownership change finalized in February. The objective is for Indian Motorcycle to secure its own corporate, financial, and administrative resources while strengthening domestic manufacturing.
The Spirit Lake plant in Iowa is consolidating its position as a fundamental facility for the brand's industrial operations. Engine production has recently been added to its manufacturing activities, alongside a strengthened painting department.

This capacity expansion allows Indian Motorcycle to integrate more production processes within the Iowa complex. To support this growth, the company plans to hire up to 60 additional manufacturing workers.
CEO Mike Kennedy highlighted the vital importance of this facility for the company's development, noting that the industrial capabilities and experience of the Spirit Lake workforce are essential for the project's next phase.
Despite the industrial expansion, organizational adjustments were necessary. Following a seven-month analysis, the company identified duplicated functions and inefficiencies, resulting in the elimination of approximately 70 jobs across various divisions.
Mike Kennedy acknowledged that the workforce reduction is a difficult part of the process, particularly due to its impact on employees, but stressed its necessity for long-term profitability.
