Hamilton detailed the moment-by-moment account of when his brakes began to fail. "I had a good start, I didn't see Max, and I wasn't in the battle going down to Turn 5," he told the media. "But then I went into Turn 5, I hit the brake, and it started stopping okay, and then the pedal took a step, and it wouldn't stop all of a sudden."
He went wide and tapped the barrier, but it didn't feel like a bad touch. "Then the pedal came back, and it was fine for the next corners, and things were looking okay, and then the pedal went long," he added. Eventually, at Turn 20, he lost control and had to stop the car.

When asked about Verstappen's comments regarding the Turn 1 move, Hamilton gave a short reply. "Well, I thought it was pretty good racing, to be honest," he responded. This statement shows he didn't want to escalate tensions, despite the incident ending his race.
This brake failure is a heavy blow for Ferrari, who are working on developing the SF-26. The team must quickly investigate the exact cause, whether mechanical or electronic, as this is the first time Hamilton has experienced such an issue in a long while.
