Hamilton Apologizes to Ferrari After Radio Outburst in Dutch GP

Lewis Hamilton has admitted that his emotional outburst on team radio during the Dutch Grand Prix was not his finest moment. The British driver publicly apologized to Scuderia Ferrari after a series of frustrated comments aired during the race at Zandvoort.

The incident occurred in the second half of the race when Hamilton felt the team's strategy was not going smoothly. He was stuck behind his teammate, Charles Leclerc, who was slower but on older tires. "Great way of wasting time guys, good job," Hamilton said sarcastically over the radio when Leclerc finally pitted on lap 43.

After the race, Hamilton initially criticized Ferrari's race weekend execution, comparing it unfavorably to Mercedes' smooth strategy switch between George Russell and Kimi Antonelli. However, he later reflected on his words and decided to issue a public apology via social media.

"I've listened back to some of my radio and TV comments. In the heat of the moment frustration can come out, especially when you care as deeply as I do. But that wasn't the best version of me. I take responsibility for that, and I'll be better," Hamilton wrote in his statement.

Hamilton also emphasized that his passion stems from his belief in the team and the project they are building together. "The direction is clear. The belief is there. And the fight is absolutely still on," he added.

Despite the criticism, Hamilton praised Ferrari's progress in bringing car upgrades. He acknowledged there is still work to do, especially in one-lap performance. "We still have work to do, particularly over one lap, but we'll keep digging in, learning and improving together," he said.

Unfortunately, at the end of the race, Lewis Hamilton and Leclerc had to settle for fourth and fifth places after a late virtual safety car helped Russell secure third. Nevertheless, Hamilton remains optimistic about Ferrari's trajectory this season.
