Lewis Hamilton admitted his frustration at the Dutch Grand Prix was "not the best version of me" after his outburst on team radio during the race at Zandvoort. Stuck behind teammate Charles Leclerc, who was slower on older tyres, Hamilton sarcastically said, "Great way of wasting time guys, good job," when Leclerc finally pitted on lap 43.
The incident highlighted Ferrari's still-imperfect strategy execution. Hamilton pointed to Mercedes' slick pit stop for George Russell and Kimi Antonelli as inspiration. However, Fred Vasseur explained that Ferrari had actually planned to pit Leclerc earlier but had to extend his stint to avoid traffic. For Hamilton, the plan was to stay out until the end, but the team didn't want to alert rivals to their strategy.
After the race, Hamilton took to social media to apologise. "I've listened back to some of my radio and TV comments. In the heat of the moment frustration can come out, especially when you care as deeply as I do," he wrote. "But that wasn't the best version of me. I take responsibility for that, and I'll be better."

Hamilton emphasised that his passion comes from believing in the team and what they are building together. "The direction is clear. The belief is there. And the fight is absolutely still on," he added. He also praised the factory for continuously bringing updates and performance.
Despite the setback, Hamilton remains optimistic about Ferrari's progress. Both he and Leclerc have won grands prix this season, and Hamilton holds third in the championship, level on points with Russell in second. However, he acknowledged there is still work to do, particularly in one-lap pace.
In the end, a late virtual safety car helped Russell defend third place, leaving Hamilton fourth and Leclerc fifth. It was a learning experience for Ferrari to improve communication and strategy execution in the coming rounds.
