It has been a whirlwind week for Swiss driver Gregoire Saucy after being officially confirmed as part of the manufacturer's exciting new lineup for their upcoming top-class endurance racing debut. This milestone marks a massive reward for years of relentless dedication, transitioning from single-seaters to conquering the competitive world of prototype endurance racing.
Team Principal James Barclay emphasized that trusting the young driver was a natural step given his pivotal involvement in the initial rollout phases and his stellar performances in developmental programs.
"Gregoire has been part of this project from the very beginning and took part in the rollout. We are thrilled to give him this opportunity in the Hypercar, and it is also a chance for us to see how he performs in a factory environment," Barclay stated during a media briefing.
Reflecting on his transition from formula racing to endurance machinery, Saucy highlighted the importance of his recent title-winning campaign in European competition as the ultimate stepping stone to prepare him for the sheer technical demands of a factory prototype program.
"I started in single-seaters and transitioned to endurance racing four years ago, moving from GT to LMP2. This year I had a really good season in ELMS with two wins and the championship title. Everyone in the Hypercar team has been so helpful in making me feel welcome," Saucy shared.
Having already showcased the prototype publicly at Goodwood alongside Formula 1 world champion Lando Norris, the young charger admitted that receiving the confirmation call was an unforgettable career highlight after years of striving for the top tier.
"My goal was always to reach the Hypercars. I did my job in ELMS and in development, but you never truly know until the confirmation arrives. It was a huge moment for me," he admitted.
As the team prepares to finalize its complete driver roster ahead of the upcoming campaign—having already secured talents like Alex Lynn and Leonardo Fornaroli—Saucy is ready to lean on valuable advice from experienced compatriots as he embarks on this exciting new chapter.
