Geely Auto Talks Explores Future Automotive Skills in Bari

The strategic discussion series known as Geely Auto Talks recently held its third installment at the LUM Giuseppe Degennaro University in Bari. The gathering brought together institutional representatives, academics, and corporate leaders to dissect the shifting skill sets demanded by the rapidly evolving automotive sector.

According to the research titled Skills and Professions in the Automotive Sector, conducted by Youtrend for the Chinese automotive giant, 50 percent of companies plan to make new hires in software and application development over the next three years. Meanwhile, 47 percent are focusing recruitment efforts on sustainability and energy management, and 45 percent target digital production processes.

Despite these emerging employment avenues, Puglia continues to grapple with retaining local talent. Statistics highlight that 31 percent of master’s degree engineers trained within the region ultimately move to Central-Northern Italy for employment, while another 5 percent find opportunities abroad.
