Following George Russell’s post-race claim at the Singapore Grand Prix that Red Bull has emerged as the definitive team to beat in Formula 1, Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has admitted he is “not sure.” The Milton Keynes-based squad has enjoyed a notable resurgence recently, highlighted by Max Verstappen securing a commanding victory at the Marina Bay Circuit to back up his previous triumphs.
Verstappen’s stellar run of form signaled a remarkable turnaround for the Red Bull outfit and its in-house powertrains department, prompting rival drivers like Russell to proclaim them as the benchmark. While the Scuderia spent a major portion of the season establishing themselves as the closest challengers to the Silver Arrows, recent rounds have seen the competitive order shift dramatically across the paddock.
Asked directly if he feels Red Bull is now setting the absolute standard in the championship, Vasseur offered a measured response, pointing out the fluid nature of the current 2026 technical landscape and how different teams have taken turns at the front during various phases of the championship.

"Honestly, they are doing very well, but it’s not the [only] team to beat," Vasseur stated, emphasizing the multi-team threat at the sharp end of the grid. He noted how performance swings have favored different manufacturers throughout the year, keeping the competitive battle extraordinarily close between the top four constructors.
Vasseur concluded by highlighting that the introduction of upcoming aerodynamic upgrades could completely shuffle the order once again. Ultimately, the Maranello squad remains firmly anchored to its own internal development program rather than getting distracted by the weekly fluctuations of their direct competitors.
