Adrien Fourmaux has one clear mission before the Rally1 era officially comes to an end. The Hyundai driver wants to secure at least one WRC victory before the new regulations take over next year.
“I have one target. I’d like to get at least one win with this car before the Rally1 era comes to an end,” Fourmaux told RallyJournal. Despite knowing that a win cannot be forced, the Frenchman remains determined to push hard in the remaining rounds.
There are not many chances left—only three or four events remain, depending on whether the planned season finale in Saudi Arabia goes ahead. The window is tight, but Fourmaux believes the current Rally1 machinery still holds untapped potential.

“I enjoy it. Sometimes I’m a little bit angry because, in terms of pace, it feels like we could do even better. But overall, driving these cars is absolutely fantastic,” he said. Last week’s Rally Finland was a particular highlight, with Fourmaux calling the weekend “amazing” and praising the final stage.
Those warm feelings are mixed with the awareness that Rally1 cars will soon become history. The new WRC27 regulations will bring cars technically closer to today’s Rally2, with less power and lower costs. For Fourmaux, saying goodbye is both sweet and bittersweet.
Amid the transition, the WRC also gained a new promoter. Eric Boullier, a former Formula 1 figure, was appointed CEO during Rally Finland. Fourmaux welcomes the change and has one major hope.
“I have a lot of hope that they can improve the marketing and the visibility of the championship. I think that’s where we’re furthest behind. The problem isn’t the cars or the sporting regulations,” he stressed. He also thanked the outgoing promoter and welcomed the new one.
