The Italian manufacturer Ferrari has openly voiced a major ambition to see the Balance of Performance (BoP) system completely abolished under the framework of the new World Endurance Championship Hypercar regulations. This bold proposition aims to steer the endurance racing world championship toward a purer era of meritocracy without endless technical controversies surrounding performance adjustments at every single race weekend.
Antonello Coletta, Ferrari's global head of endurance, argued that the transition toward a unified technical platform to replace the current LMDh and LMH divisions has successfully eliminated the underlying need for an artificial equalization system in the premier class. He noted that BoP was originally conceived solely to bridge the distinct structural gaps between four-wheel-drive and two-wheel-drive systems, as well as differing LMH and LMDh concepts.
"We have a very good opportunity ahead. We started with two different platforms and two different ideas. Now we are around the table all together to define a unique platform. With a unique platform, we can write the rules very clearly and the final goal should be for us to delete the BoP," Antonello Coletta explained during media discussions.

Coletta further emphasized that minimizing reliance on the performance-balancing mechanism would restore the true essence of motorsport competition based strictly on engineering merit and on-track prowess. Nevertheless, the Maranello-based marque clarified that removing the system completely is not an absolute mandatory requirement for extending their long-term commitment to the championship.
"No, this is not mandatory. For us, it's mandatory to have a chance to make the car. If we can make 100 percent of the car, we will see if there is BoP or little BoP. The discussion is very complicated, very open. Our idea is to delete it completely or just keep minimal intervention," he concluded regarding the future technical direction.
