Dino Beganovic secured pole position for the Formula 2 Feature Race in Spain after a chaotic qualifying session that saw four red flags. The DAMS driver set a best time of 1:44.351, marking his first pole since the season opener in Australia.

The qualifying session at the new Madring circuit in Madrid started with a slight delay due to Tasanapol Intraphuvasak's crash in practice. Just five minutes in, the red flag was waved after a series of incidents involving Montoya and Maini. Montoya hit the barriers at Monumental corner, while Maini lost control at the exit of the same corner and had to end his session early.
After the restart, Tsolov initially set the fastest time, but a second red flag appeared due to Varrone's mistake at Turn 19. In the second restart, Beganovic found his rhythm and became the first driver to break the 1:45 barrier. However, the session was stopped for a third time when John Bennett crashed at Turn 11.

Nevertheless, Beganovic remained calm and improved his time to 1:44.351 in the remaining minutes. Rivals' attempts to challenge him were thwarted when the fourth red flag was shown for Herta's incident. Until the end of the session, no one could match the Swedish driver's time.
With this result, Beganovic will lead the Feature Race grid on Sunday. Jak Crawford will start from second after setting the second-best time, followed by Camara in third. Meanwhile, championship leader Tsolov will start from fifth, and Fittipaldi will line up fourth.
This incident-packed qualifying highlighted the challenges of the new Madring circuit. Drivers and teams had to adapt quickly each time the session was halted. The conditions also tested race management in maintaining smoothness and safety. With four red flags, this qualifying session became one of the most chaotic in F2 history.
For Beganovic, this pole is crucial to keep his championship hopes alive. He now hopes to capitalise on the front-row start to secure a win and close the gap to his rivals at the top of the standings.
