Formula 2 CEO Bruno Michel has firmly dismissed speculation that the 2026 title fight has come to an early end due to the ongoing geopolitical conflict involving Iran in the Middle East. Despite earlier disruptions that forced the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi rounds and subsequent calendar adjustments, series management insists that the season-ending events in Qatar and Abu Dhabi will proceed exactly as planned.
The regional instability, triggered by United States and Israel strikes in late February, has consistently kept motorsport organizers on high alert. While Formula 1 and F2 have maintained contingency options—such as keeping Imola on standby for early December—both championships remain fully committed to racing in the Gulf region. Financial considerations alongside the sporting integrity of finishing the championship on the tracks dictate the current strategy.
Speculation about a premature end to the season was further fueled by remarks from Colton Herta in Baku regarding the uncertainty of the calendar. However, Michel quickly shut down any notion that championship leader Rafael Camara could be retroactively crowned champion without completing the scheduled final events.

"For the moment – and I think it's completely clear – Qatar and Abu Dhabi are on the calendar, and we are going to finish the championship in Qatar and in Abu Dhabi," Michel stated to Motorsport.com. He emphasized that Formula 1 and F2 are closely aligned in ensuring these two grands prix take place under optimal conditions.
With a tense three-way battle for the championship crown still to be settled on track, teams and drivers are fully focused on the final showdowns. Michel's definitive stance has effectively silenced the paddock rumors and guaranteed that the 2026 F2 season will conclude with intense competitive racing.
