Former Aston Martin strategist Bernie Collins believes that Lewis Hamilton and the Ferrari squad need to sit down for a deeply difficult conversation following back-to-back operational errors in the Formula 1 world championship. Growing friction on the pit wall has seemingly begun to erode the veteran champion's faith in the Maranello outfit.
The string of complicated weekends started when mixed weather conditions caught the team off guard, leading to a costly decision to start a wet-dry race on slick tires. That initial gamble severely compromised his track position from the moment the lights went out, setting a frustrating tone for subsequent rounds.
Another strategic nightmare unfolded at the Marina Bay Street Circuit a week later, where the Briton found himself forced onto a convoluted multi-stop strategy. Opting to overrule his team's initial plan, he endured a punishing stint of over forty laps on soft compound tires to salvage a disappointing sixth-place finish after starting strong from the second row of the grid.

Analyzing these high-pressure moments, Collins pointed out that split-second decisions under Virtual Safety Car conditions exposed a glaring lack of synchronization. The absence of immediate consensus between the cockpit and the pit wall has repeatedly triggered counter-productive debates when every fraction of a second counts.
"Fred [Vasseur] obviously came out afterwards and said, yes, they did call him. Lewis missed the entry or ignored the call, whichever way you want to think about it," Collins noted on the Sky Sports F1 podcast, emphasizing that a driver of his stature does not simply forget to pit without underlying issues regarding team trust.
