Just hours after the conclusion of the weekend action at Sepang, Yamaha dropped a bombshell by announcing a company-wide decision to skip the upcoming Grand Prix of Qatar at the Lusail International Circuit. The sudden development has sent shockwaves through the paddock as teams prepare for the demanding final stretch of the championship.
The restriction stems from an internal corporate policy regarding travel to the Middle East, which remains unchanged despite ongoing safety assessments. This sweeping directive directly affects satellite partner Pramac Racing, meaning the team's lineup will be sidelined for the nineteenth round of the 2026 calendar.
Voicing strong reservations prior to the official announcement, Jack Miller did not hold back his frustrations regarding the scheduled trip. "I don’t want to go. Like everybody. There’s nineteen of us that don’t want to go there," the Australian rider stated candidly about the paddock's private discussions.

In response to the sudden withdrawal, championship organizers issued a strong statement expressing disappointment over Yamaha's stance. Despite extensive security briefings and guarantees provided by regional authorities and independent risk assessors, the governing body noted that potential sporting consequences and contractual implications will be reviewed by FIM officials.
Despite the high-profile absence, rival manufacturers including Honda, Ducati, and Aprilia have confirmed they will travel to the Gulf state and compete as planned, reaffirming their commitment to finishing out the remaining rounds of the grueling global tour.
