Xavi Vierge has secured his next move in WorldSBK. The Spanish rider will join Barni Spark Racing Team starting from the 2027 season, leaving Yamaha after just one year. This decision marks a new chapter in Vierge's career, as he will ride a Ducati Panigale V4 for the first time in the Superbike class.

Vierge, who currently races for Pata Maxus Yamaha alongside Andrea Locatelli, expressed his delight at the agreement. “I am very happy to join Barni Spark Racing Team, a team with a lot of history and passion for this sport. In recent years they have shown an incredible level in WorldSBK and consistently fought with the best,” he said. “Although I had several options, it was clear to me that Barni Spark Racing Team was the right choice. I can't wait to start working together, adapt to the bike, enjoy it and work hard to achieve our goals. I want to thank the team and sponsors for their trust in me. I will give everything to repay that trust with good results.”

Team principal Marco Barnabo also welcomed Vierge's arrival. “We are delighted to announce our collaboration with Xavi Vierge for the 2027 season. We were immediately on the same page regarding our goals and priorities and shared a clear vision from the start of what we want to achieve together. We are ready to begin this new adventure with great motivation and determination,” said Barnabo.

With Vierge's arrival, Barni Spark Racing Team's WorldSBK lineup for 2027 is complete. He will partner Italian rider Yari Montella, who was previously confirmed. Consequently, Alvaro Bautista loses his seat at the team after this season and must find a new employer for 2027. This decision comes as a surprise considering Bautista is a two-time world champion, but his inconsistent performances this season with Ducati may have influenced the choice.

For Vierge, this is a new challenge after previously racing for Honda and Yamaha. He has Moto2 experience before stepping up to WorldSBK in 2022. In his first season with Honda, he scored a podium, his only one to date. Now, with the Ducati Panigale V4 that has dominated the championship this season, Vierge has a great opportunity to fight at the front again.

This move also marks the end of Vierge's collaboration with Yamaha after just one season. Nevertheless, Vierge remains focused on finishing the 2026 season strongly before embarking on his new adventure. WorldSBK fans will surely look forward to seeing Vierge on the Ducati, given his potential that has yet to be fully unleashed.
