Ryan Stewart, the boss of Walkinshaw Andretti United, is taking on a brave challenge once again. For the second consecutive year, he will participate in The Long Run, an initiative by the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA), with a plan to cover 150 kilometres on foot.

For Stewart, this is more than just a physical challenge. Two years ago, the laid-back team principal received life-changing news: he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

“In 2024, prostate cancer became personal,” he said. “I was one of the blokes who got the call that I had it. One of the husbands. One of the dads. One of the men suddenly faced with a future that initially looked very different to the one I’d planned.”

Fortunately, Stewart caught it early. “Thankfully, I got lucky by identifying it early. Today I’m recovering well, back racing and enjoying life, and am eternally grateful for every day that I get to spend with my amazing teammates, my friends and the special people that I love,” he added.

But he knows not every man is as fortunate. “Too many Aussie and Kiwi men don’t get that same outcome, as they ignore the signs and might naturally shy away from a diagnosis,” he explained.

That’s why he’s supporting The Long Run. Stewart isn’t asking fans who backed him in 2025 to do it all again, but if they can spare a few dollars, he’d genuinely appreciate it. “Because this isn’t about me. It’s about helping another husband, another dad, another mate get the same chance I got,” he said.
