The race weekend at the Sepang Circuit has presented a baffling technical puzzle for Fabio Di Giannantonio and the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team. Although the Italian rider managed to showcase competitive pace at the front by securing a fifth-place finish in the Sprint, a mysterious issue regarding top speed suddenly emerged as a major roadblock preventing his Desmosedici from showing its absolute potential on the straights.
Following the conclusion of the Sprint race, Di Giannantonio dropped cryptic hints to media members in the paddock. The Italian rider revealed that while his motorcycle package feels incredible through the corners, other unspecified factors are currently holding him back. When pressed to elaborate on the exact nature of the problem, he remained tight-lipped and directed analysts toward the telemetry data. "If you look at the results, the analysis, you can easily see. But I cannot say," Di Giannantonio stated regarding the confidential issue.
The puzzle began to clear up when VR46 team manager Pablo Nieto officially confirmed to pit lane reporter Jack Appleyard during the warm-up session that the team is indeed suffering from a significant top-speed deficit. Nieto openly admitted that losing a notable margin of speed down every straight is a massive disadvantage at a venue boasting such long acceleration zones, mirroring some difficulties already experienced during previous rounds like Australia.

Nieto further explained that this anomaly feels quite strange because all engine units supplied by Ducati are completely identical. Consequently, engineers are working frantically behind the scenes to uncover the root cause. From aerodynamic configurations and rider positioning to potential engine output variances, every single variable is currently being investigated in close collaboration with the factory technicians.
With the championship calendar quickly approaching its final stretch, finding an immediate remedy is absolute priority for the VR46 garage. Failing to resolve the straight-line deficit will severely hinder overtaking maneuvers not only at Sepang but also during the upcoming rounds, making quick engineering interventions essential for their championship trajectory.
