A thrilling qualifying session at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez completely shook up the Formula 1 paddock as the battle for grid positions reached its boiling point. Most paddock observers initially expected Charles Leclerc to secure pole position, given the Monegasque driver's commanding pace throughout all three practice sessions. However, when it truly mattered under the pressure of Q3, Lewis Hamilton unleashed a stunning lap that left the rest of the field behind.
This remarkable achievement marks the seven-time world champion's very first pole position in the iconic red race suit. The atmosphere inside the Scuderia Ferrari garage erupted in celebration, with Team Principal Fred Vasseur beaming with pride while speaking to broadcasters in the media pen.
“This is a great day because this pole is something Hamilton has been chasing for two years,” Fred Vasseur explained during his interview. “But the most important part is still ahead of us. Even so, this pole can be viewed as a very significant milestone for Lewis and also for us as a team.”

Despite Charles Leclerc having to settle for third place on the starting grid, the mood within the Maranello camp remained upbeat. Fred Vasseur noted that his driver put together an impressive run during his initial Q3 outing, though a minor mistake on the final push prevented an even better outcome.
“Charles put together a very good lap on his first Q3 attempt, but on the second run, he made a small mistake,” Vasseur added. “It is a shame because we could have locked out the front row, but things could have been much worse when you look at how strong Max Verstappen's lap started. Managing the tires and the balance here is always a delicate challenge.”
Looking ahead to Sunday's Grand Prix, both red machines will start from the cleaner side of the track. Nonetheless, Vasseur refused to take anything for granted, emphasizing that the slipstream down to the opening corner will introduce massive tactical variables for the entire grid.
