Concluding a demanding weekend at Sepang, Marco Bezzecchi successfully secured a sixth-place finish in the main Grand Prix. The Italian rider pointed out a major step forward for Aprilia Racing compared to previous struggles at the Malaysian venue. However, finishing sixth in the tropical heat brought to light critical issues regarding front tire temperatures that severely hampered his RS-GP pace in the latter half of the race.
During the early stages of the 20-lap encounter, Bezzecchi displayed highly promising speed. He clawed his way up to fourth place and briefly closed in on the leading group. "The package worked very well for the first few laps, but it quickly became apparent that front tire temperature would become an issue," Bezzecchi explained. Although he launched an aggressive move to overtake Alex Marquez, the high thermal stress on the Michelin rubber meant he could not sustain the charge.
As the race entered its final laps, Bezzecchi's pace steadily dropped due to tire wear. He was engaged in a fierce battle, including a tough wheel-to-wheel contact with Ai Ogura, before ultimately yielding fifth position to Red Bull KTM Tech3 standout Enea Bastianini near the checkered flag. Bezzecchi noted that his defensive riding style—braking earlier to save the front tire—unintentionally destroyed his rear tire grip in the closing moments.

Looking at the championship standings with only three rounds remaining in the 2026 campaign, the mathematical deficit has grown significantly. Despite the uphill battle, Bezzecchi remains defiant. "Naturally, this result hurts, as at this stage of the championship you must avoid poor results. But at the same time, we will keep giving everything. As long as there is a mathematical chance for the title, we will fight," he stated.
