Team Kiwi Racing has finally unveiled its Holden livery for the Super2 Series, marking the New Zealand squad's return to Mount Panorama for the first time since 2008. The #021 car carries a strong sense of nostalgia, harking back to the Vodafone era that once served as their title sponsor.

Ahead of their highly anticipated return to Bathurst, the team management moved quickly. On Wednesday, they conducted an evaluation at Winton Motor Raceway, followed by a full test on Thursday. Three drivers are being assessed for the Super2 Series seat: Brendon Leitch, Chris Pither, and Brent Collins. A final decision will be made after the evaluation sessions conclude.

Team owner David John couldn't hide his enthusiasm. "It's just exciting obviously to have the team back," he told Speedcafe. "It's been 26 years that we've continued to try and provide these opportunities wherever possible." For him, the return is not just about racing; it's a mission to elevate Kiwi talent onto the international stage.

The team's philosophy is refreshingly unique. John emphasized that they never put a massive price tag on their program or even ask drivers to bring money to the team. "We don't put a massive price tag or even ask drivers to bring any money to the team. It's just trying to do the right thing to get Kiwi talent onto the international stage and opportunities that they haven't had previously," he explained.

The return of the team with this iconic livery is sure to turn heads. The #021 number is a tribute to the past, when Vodafone sponsored the team with the same prefix in New Zealand. This detail adds historical value to a team that has been long awaited in Australian motorsport.

With meticulous preparation and burning spirit, Team Kiwi Racing is ready to make a statement at this year's Bathurst 1000. Can they compete at the sharp end? All eyes will be on them when the lights go out at Mount Panorama.
