George Russell was in imperious form during the final practice session for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. The Mercedes driver led for much of the session, setting a best lap of 1m22.219s to edge out Lewis Hamilton by 0.226s.

The battle for supremacy was intense, with just 0.155s covering third-placed Max Verstappen down to seventh-placed Arvid Lindblad. Hamilton and Verstappen saved their best for late in the session, while Kimi Antonelli looked set for second before slipping to fourth.

Drama and Traffic at High-Speed Temple

Lando Norris took fifth ahead of Charles Leclerc, but Oscar Piastri had a frustrating afternoon, ending eighth after struggling with traffic and several off-track excursions. Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto completed the top ten for Alpine, while Liam Lawson finished 12th after a spin at the first chicane.

The session wasn't without incident: Alex Albon was delayed in the Williams garage by a steering issue, and Lawson's spin briefly brought out yellow flags. Traffic became a major talking point as drivers jostled for position on the high-speed circuit.

Tow Tactics and Qualifying Pressure

Monza's unique aerodynamic demands made towing a crucial tactic, with drivers eagerly seeking slipstreams to gain precious tenths. Russell mastered the art, consistently improving his time to end the session on top, sending a clear message to his rivals.

With qualifying looming, the pressure is on. Mercedes looks strong, but Red Bull and Ferrari are lurking. Can Russell convert this pace into pole position, or will the tow games and slipstream battles shake up the grid? The stage is set for a dramatic qualifying hour.
