The Brands Hatch GP circuit in 2026 will forever remain etched in the memory of Ricky Collard, though his potential British Touring Car Championship victory now hangs in the balance.
He faces an anxious wait while the appeal process unfolds after being slapped with a five-second time penalty for a safety car infringement during a chaotic season finale.
Starting from pole position for the reverse-grid Race 3 following a ninth-place finish in Race 2, Dexter Patterson initially led the competitive field away from the starting grid.

However, chaos quickly descended upon the opening lap down at Paddock Hill, claiming several contenders including Tom Chilton who was forced to park his Hyundai in the gravel trap.
The major first-lap melee also ensnared championship contender Tom Ingram following contact initiated by Sam Osborne, while several other drivers scrambled off-track to avoid the heavy carnage.
