A nightmare unfolded for Pramac at the 2026 MotoGP Austrian Grand Prix. Toprak Razgatlioglu and Jack Miller finished in the last two positions, a result never seen before this season.
The Red Bull Ring has never been kind to the satellite Yamaha team. From free practice, both riders struggled to find a good setup. The main issue? Severe rear grip loss, making the bike difficult to control. Razgatlioglu, a three-time Superbike champion in his MotoGP rookie year, was clearly frustrated. “I don't understand what happened. Even with a new tyre, I had no grip from the start. Every time I opened the throttle, the rear spun. I had no rhythm and was just trying to finish,” he said.
Miller, who will move to WorldSBK next season, echoed the sentiment. “I could keep a decent pace early on, but around lap 13 or 14, the rear tyre dropped drastically. After that, I was just focusing on bringing the bike home. We've had this before, so we need to find a solution,” he added.
This result further worsens Pramac's position in the constructors' and riders' standings. Razgatlioglu and Miller are now at the bottom of the table, far behind rival satellite teams like Gresini and VR46. Pramac is usually a team that can fight for points. The Austrian failure confirms that performance issues can no longer be ignored.
Technically, the combination of a rear tyre that degrades too quickly and electronics that are not optimal makes the bike hard to handle. Razgatlioglu mentioned a lack of mechanical grip, power delivery, and incorrect electronic intervention. “We are missing everything. When all the small problems add up, it becomes big,” he explained.
Pramac must bounce back quickly. The next race at Misano will be a tough test. Without significant improvement, their season could end earlier than expected.
