BIOGRAPHY

Alex Marquez is a Spanish MotoGP rider and the younger brother of eight-time world champion Marc Marquez. As a two-time World Champion (Moto3 and Moto2), Alex has a reputation as a hard worker with a smooth, precise, and consistent riding style. After going through a difficult period in the early stages of his premier class career, he successfully proved his capability and rediscovered his best form aboard Ducati machinery.

Career Journey

  • Early Career & Moto3 Crown (2012–2014): Making his world championship debut in 2012, Alex steadily developed into a top rider in the lightweight class. His peak performance came in the 2014 season with the Estrella Galicia 0,0 team, where he successfully clinched the Moto3 World Championship after a fierce battle down to the final round against Jack Miller.

  • Moto2 Challenges & Second World Title (2015–2019): Moving up to the Moto2 class, Alex needed a few seasons to adapt to the larger and heavier bikes. His patience and hard work paid off in the 2019 season with the Marc VDS team, where he delivered a dominant and intelligent campaign to capture the Moto2 World Championship title.

  • MotoGP Debut & Struggles at Honda (2020–2022): Promoted to the premier class in 2020 with the factory Repsol Honda team (partnering his brother), Alex surprised many by taking two consecutive podiums in his rookie season. However, the following two seasons (2021-2022) at the LCR Honda satellite team were extremely difficult due to a notoriously difficult and uncompetitive RC213V machine.

  • Resurgence with Gresini Racing (2023–Present): His decision to move to Gresini Racing (Ducati) in 2023 became the turning point of his career. He immediately clicked with the Desmosedici, successfully winning Sprint races (at Silverstone and Sepang), and returning to the podium. Entering the 2025 and 2026 seasons, Alex has extended his contract with Gresini, solidifying his position as an experienced rider ready to compete consistently at the front.
