Norris Praised for Firm Response to Official in Cooldown Room

A small incident in the cooldown room after the Spanish Grand Prix stole the spotlight. Lando Norris firmly refused an official's request to put away a can of Coca-Cola he was drinking. The moment quickly drew praise from Formula 1 fans on social media.

The race at the Madring circuit was a tense debut. Norris, starting from pole, dominated early and pulled away from Kimi Antonelli. However, Lance Stroll's stoppage at Turn 20 triggered a virtual safety car (VSC) just after Norris had passed the pit entry. He was forced to complete a slow lap while Antonelli and Max Verstappen took advantage with cheap pit stops. Antonelli went on to win and extend his championship lead.

After the race, Norris was seen in the cooldown room enjoying a can of Coca-Cola. The drink brand is a McLaren sponsor, but not an F1 partner. In fact, F1 has a partnership with Coca-Cola's biggest rival, PepsiCo. When an official asked him to put the drink away, Norris responded firmly: "I just did a race, so I'm allowed to drink what I would like. Thank you so much."

The moment went viral quickly. Many fans praised the Briton's assertiveness. "This is the highlight of the Madring," one fan wrote on Reddit. Another added, "The irony is their attempt to stop him has brought so many more eyes on this." Another comment read, "Love this version of Lando. Kimi learning media from Max and Lando will be hilarious." Someone else joked, "Max will be turning up with a six-pack of Red Bull next race. I like this Lando."

Norris's reaction reflects his increasingly vocal and authentic personality. Amid the heat and disappointment of the race, he remained firm without losing respect. The public saw his response as a natural reaction from an athlete who had just exerted maximum effort.

For McLaren, the incident may not affect performance, but it added extra attention amid fierce competition. Sponsor relationships with drivers often lead to unexpected moments. For Norris, it's just another episode of a character that fans adore more and more.
