Jorge Martin has been officially passed fit to ride in the opening practice session at the Sepang Circuit ahead of the Malaysian Grand Prix. This crucial medical clearance comes just days after the rider suffered a broken wrist following a heavy crash during the sprint race at Phillip Island.
Follow-up medical scans performed on Sunday revealed that the bone injury was thankfully less severe than initially feared by the medical crew. Rather than heading straight back to Spain for immediate surgical treatment, the championship contender decided to remain on-site with the clear objective of attempting a miraculous comeback this weekend.
Even though he secured the green light from the MotoGP medical team to participate in FP1, his physical limitations pose a massive question mark for the remainder of the race weekend. The injury affects his right wrist, which directly controls the throttle and front brake on a circuit heavily dominated by right-hand corners.

Reflecting on his precarious condition, the Aprilia star admitted he feels neither overly optimistic nor pessimistic about his chances on track. "I feel good. For sure, I could be worse, I could be better," he stated in an interview with The Race. He openly confessed that if he were not deeply embroiled in the championship fight, he would simply be resting at home in a cast for a month instead of risking further pain.
The sheer scale of the physical barrier is evident in his daily routine outside the paddock. "I still cannot brush my teeth with the right hand, I do it with the left hand, so I cannot do almost anything, but maybe I can ride," he explained, as the entire motorsport world watches to see how far his grit can carry him.
