The nostalgic roar of a V12 engine echoes through the streets of Athens as Mika Hakkinen straps himself back into a genuine piece of motorsport history. The two-time world champion is set to thrill crowds by taking to a bespoke temporary layout outside the Olympic Athletic Center.
The Finn will pilot the iconic McLaren MP4/6, the legendary machine that powered Ayrton Senna to his third drivers' crown while securing the constructors' championship back in 1991. Featuring a screaming Honda V12 putting out over 700 horsepower against a featherlight chassis, the demonstration promises a pure sensory overload.
"We are going to have a show run here; you can see the car that I'm going to drive tomorrow. It's going to be amazing. It has like 700 horsepower and weighs about 500 kilos," Hakkinen shared ahead of the special Allwyn x McLaren Racing live activation in the Greek capital.

Alongside the roaring heritage machinery, fans attending the event also get a close-up look at modern championship-winning technology. The display bridges eras by showcasing both Senna's historic charger and the contemporary engineering triumphs that continue to define the famous Woking outfit's storied legacy.
According to Motorsport.com, team executives highlighted that bringing these legendary cars directly to the fans remains a core priority. By pairing vintage V12 monsters with state-of-the-art simulators and modern show cars, the event successfully brings the grand prix paddock atmosphere straight to the streets.
