Max Verstappen claimed his second consecutive victory after inheriting the lead following George Russell's dramatic crash on the opening lap of the chaotic sprint race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. The four-star world champion started from pole position but had to navigate treacherous conditions when a heavy downpour soaked the grid.
A torrential downpour hit the circuit 15 minutes before the scheduled start, leaving certain sections dry while creating standing water in Turns 2 and 3. The race was delayed by half an hour, and after two formation laps, the entire field was forced to start on intermediate tyres to cope with the mixed track conditions.
Russell made a stellar getaway from the front row, snatching the lead from Verstappen before Turn 1, while Lewis Hamilton surged up to third from sixth on the grid. The spray severely limited visibility as the pack navigated the narrow street circuit in the early stages.

However, Russell's stint at the front was cut short when he lost control over the kerb at the exit of the final corner, spinning heavily into the inside wall at the end of lap one. The incident immediately brought out the safety car, neutralising the race for five laps while marshals cleared the debris.
At the restart, Verstappen maintained his composure at the front while managing severe tyre degradation on a rapidly drying racing line. The intermediate compound suffered heavily, leading to intense battles and late-race drama throughout the points-paying positions.
