Max Verstappen suggested an unusual solution for his squad's ongoing communication failures by joking that they should start communicating in sign language after a difficult race at the United States Grand Prix. The four-time world champion fought hard to secure a third-place finish behind race winner Kimi Antonelli and Charles Leclerc.
The persistent radio issues made communication with the pitwall significantly harder during the demanding race at Austin. Speaking to media in the post-race press conference, the Dutch driver was quick to correct a journalist by pointing out that the technical failure had repeatedly occurred throughout the current 2026 championship campaign, labeling the recurring problem as a total disaster.
Verstappen was not the sole driver inside the Milton Keynes outfit to suffer from the poor radio coverage during the Grand Prix. His rookie team-mate, Isack Hadjar, who ultimately finished in sixth position after dropping down from third on the opening lap, revealed to broadcasters that he could not hear his engineers properly.

Hadjar admitted that the communication breakdown potentially forced him to leave the pitlane with the incorrect engine map setting. The radio failure compounded an already frustrating afternoon for Red Bull Racing, as Verstappen also pointed out several other performance-limiting factors.
The team's lead driver lamented questionable tyre choices, a slow pitstop by the mechanics, and highly inconsistent behaviour from the power unit across various corners. These combined complications robbed him of any chance to build a consistent race rhythm, though he ultimately acknowledged that a late Virtual Safety Car period helped him salvage a podium finish.
