Max Verstappen once again drew massive international attention after participating in the season finale of the GT World Challenge at Portimao. The presence of the Red Bull Racing star generated huge fan interest while delivering an intense and eventful race weekend in the competitive GT3 machinery.
Starting the race all the way back from 24th position following a difficult qualifying session, the Dutch ace showcased his exceptional racecraft. He carved his way through the field to cross the finish line in ninth place, which included a brilliant overtake on Arthur Leclerc during his charge.
However, the team's hopes of securing an even higher finish were derailed by a drive-through penalty. The sanction was handed down after co-driver Chris Lulhamāwho shared the number 3 Mercedes-AMG GT3āwas involved in an on-track collision with the number 48 Mercedes, dropping the trio far down the order.

Following the conclusion of the race, the situation turned ugly off the track as Lulham became the target of severe criticism and hateful online messages across various social media platforms from disgruntled internet users.
Addressing the toxic backlash, the four-time Formula 1 world champion quickly stepped up to defend his teammate publicly on Instagram.
The Grand Prix winner further emphasized that personal attacks have zero tolerance within motorsport culture.
