Marc Marquez ended the second practice session for the Austrian MotoGP on top, despite a late crash at the Red Bull Ring. The Spaniard set a time of 1:29.663, beating Jorge Martin and Pedro Acosta. The incident marked his 12th crash of the 2026 season but did not prevent him from leading the session.
Marquez's lap was two seconds off Jorge Martin's all-time record from 2024. Nevertheless, his performance was impressive at a circuit that demands high precision. He was followed by Aprilia's Jorge Martin and KTM's Pedro Acosta, who showed strong pace in front of his home crowd.
Fermin Aldeguer took fourth, ahead of factory Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia. Bagnaia had to settle for fifth, but the result shows he still has speed despite facing a challenging qualifying session. The Italian will start Q1 after a difficult Friday.
Meanwhile, Fabio Quartararo brought his Yamaha home in an encouraging sixth, ahead of Alex Marquez in seventh. Enea Bastianini, Johann Zarco, and Raul Fernandez completed the top ten. The results indicate tight competition among the riders for grid positions.
Fabio Di Giannantonio finished 11th ahead of Pol Espargaro, while Brad Binder could only manage 13th for KTM's home Grand Prix. Ai Ogura secured P14, and Marco Bezzecchi completed the session in 15th. With these results, qualifying is expected to be fierce, especially for Bagnaia who must fight from Q1.
