Marc Marquez has once again grabbed the spotlight ahead of the Misano GP. The Spanish rider admits that Marco Bezzecchi could be more competitive than him at the Marco Simoncelli Circuit. This statement was made during the official MotoGP press conference, indicating that Marquez is not taking his rivals lightly.
Marquez arrives at Misano with strong momentum after dominating the Aragon GP, where he secured a maximum 37 points and closed the gap to championship leader Jorge Martin. “For me, it's certainly not a track like Aragon, where I had the target of scoring 37 points and I achieved it. We need to understand the potential of Aprilia and their riders. Marco was very fast here last year all weekend, and I will have to give my 100%,” Marquez said. This statement shows his respect for Bezzecchi, who impressed at Misano last season.
Bezzecchi, now riding for Aprilia, is known as a specialist on Italian tracks. Last year, he pushed Marquez to the limit, forcing the Ducati rider to perform at his best. “Last year was a really tough race, Marco pushed me to achieve my best performance with the Ducati. We did fast laps throughout the race. He will be fast from FP1, and I will try to be close to him. If you look at what happened in 2025, he can definitely be more competitive than me,” Marquez added.
Marquez's comments also highlight the balance of competition in MotoGP today. Aprilia, with two strong riders like Martin and Bezzecchi, could pose a serious threat to Ducati. Marquez acknowledges that the key to success in the remaining races is the courage to take risks. “To be faster, you have to take risks. Right now, some riders are more consistent, while others have higher peaks of speed,” he explained.
