Marc Marquez Wins San Marino Sprint, Cuts Martin's Championship Lead

The lights went out at Misano, and Marc Marquez shot off like a rocket. From the first corner, he seized the lead, leaving Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio in his wake. From the very first moments, it was clear that Marquez was determined to keep the pressure on championship leader Jorge Martin.

As the second lap began, the order started to settle. Martin, who started fourth, couldn't do much initially. However, he began to show his pace by setting the fastest lap. Meanwhile, Alex Marquez received a warning for repeatedly running wide. Behind them, Pedro Acosta and Fermin Aldeguer were locked in their own battle.

Bad luck struck Fabio Quartararo. The Yamaha rider crashed at the corner, his bike briefly airborne. Fortunately, he was able to get up and walk away, though he had to watch the rest of the race from the sidelines. The incident briefly brought out yellow flags, but the race continued without major disruption.

Midway through, Jorge Martin launched his attack. He overtook Di Giannantonio to take third place. Now, two Aprilia bikes were right behind Marquez. The Aprilia duo tried to apply pressure, but Marquez seemed calm and in control. Behind them, Di Giannantonio, Alex Marquez, and Acosta continued their fierce battle.

With two laps to go, Marquez upped his pace. He set the fastest lap and closed the gap to Bezzecchi to just one second. Although several riders received track limit warnings, no long lap penalties were issued. The tension mounted, especially as Martin kept hounding Bezzecchi.

In the end, Marc Marquez crossed the line to take the win. This victory puts him just 14 points behind Jorge Martin in the riders' standings. Martin still leads, but his margin is shrinking. Meanwhile, Bezzecchi, who finished second, scored his best sprint race result of the season. The sprint race at Misano serves as a strong signal that the fight for the 2026 MotoGP world title is heating up.
