Jorge Martin was forced to make the tough decision to withdraw from the Malaysian Grand Prix weekend after realizing that the extreme risk he was taking on track did not justify his lack of speed. The Aprilia star pulled out of the event following Saturday morning's final practice session, where he finished at the bottom of the timesheets with just three timed laps due to an ongoing hand injury.

The title contender admitted that while Friday was already an uphill battle, he still felt he had some competitive pace left if he pushed hard. However, those margins evaporated by Saturday morning, and with his physical strength compromised, continuing to ride at full tilt presented a dangerous hazard that he simply could not afford to take.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Martin provided a candid assessment of his physical limitations. "Yesterday already was really tough, but at least I saw that if I push, I was going to be fast," Martin told TNT Sports. He continued, "The problem today is that the risk I was taking was too much for the efficiency I had on the track. I mean, I wasn't fast enough to take the risk."

Elaborating on his lack of control over the machine, the Spaniard emphasized that survival took precedence over pride. "If I was able to be a bit more competitive and close to the top guys, maybe I could take the risk of taking a crash or supporting that pain. But I saw I didn't have enough control of the hand with the strength I had. So I decided that the best option was to stop," he explained.

Looking ahead, Martin plans to dedicate the upcoming week to intensive therapy with the ultimate goal of returning to action in Qatar. In his absence, teammate Marco Bezzecchi aims to close the 40-point gap in the standings, while championship leader Marc Marquez is widely expected to capitalize on the maximum available points at Sepang.
