Marc Marquez has finally addressed the long-standing speculation about his physical condition, specifically his right arm. In a candid Instagram post, the Ducati rider shared a photo revealing the visible toll years of injuries and surgeries have taken on his right arm. The decision came ahead of the San Marino Grand Prix at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, aiming to put an end to the constant questions.
Since his horrific crash in Jerez in 2020, Marquez's right arm has been a persistent issue. Despite this, he secured a sensational ninth world title in 2025. However, a crash caused by Marco Bezzecchi in Indonesia added new physical challenges. The photo Marquez shared starkly shows the difference between his right and left arms, a testament to his long battle with injuries. "I was a bit tired of answering the same question," Marquez explained. "I learned in my career that when you have speculation, the easiest way to put it to rest is to try and be honest. That is why I decided to publish this picture. My doctor also spoke about it and how much it affected the injury. Now, I don’t have anything to add. I can fully focus to try and fight for the championship."
This revelation came shortly after he admitted to having "no control" over his right arm during the British GP. The questions about his arm, Marquez said, were draining his energy. "The question of my arm was taking energy away from me. To fight for this championship, I needed to be able to fully focus on racing. Now, I’m more relaxed, and when I am questioned about my arm, I can say that I already answered."
Marquez emphasized that the decision to post the photo was entirely his own. "It was my idea. My team gives me feedback, but it’s something very personal. This is the state of my physical condition. I still enjoy racing," he insisted. "I still feel competitive, I try and do my maximum every year."
Though his physical condition will never return to what it once was, Marquez's fighting spirit remains intact. His 2026 campaign proves that, as he has slashed the gap to championship leader Jorge Martin to just 19 points heading into Round 14 at Misano, his most successful clockwise circuit with six victories. The title fight is heating up, and Marquez is ready to give it his all.
With this openness, Marquez hopes to close the chapter on speculation and focus fully on racing.
