Marc Marquez completed one of the most dramatic comebacks in MotoGP history by taking the championship lead after winning the San Marino Grand Prix. The Spanish rider had trailed Marco Bezzecchi by 102 points after the Italian round, and even admitted his title defense hopes were over.

Early Season Struggles

After the Italian GP, Marquez was in a difficult position. The 102-point gap to Bezzecchi was the largest he had ever faced. In an interview, he stated that the title chase was finished. However, many races remained, and Marquez began to turn his fortunes around.

Turning Point at Balaton

The resurgence started at the Balaton Park Circuit in Hungary. Marquez took pole position and won the sprint race, marking the beginning of a streak of impressive results. From then on, he consistently closed the gap by capitalizing on rivals' mistakes. Bezzecchi suffered a DNF, while Jorge Martin showed inconsistent performances that hampered his consistency.
