The 2026 season has been a sweet turning point for Liam Lawson. After a tough start to his career at Red Bull, the New Zealander is now consistently delivering for Racing Bulls, regularly finishing in the top 10. With 11 rounds complete, Lawson has scored 43 points—a significant improvement over his struggles last year.

Ahead of the second half of the season, which resumes in two weeks, Lawson made it clear his main goal is not chasing a specific championship position, but maximizing the car's potential every weekend. "On a personal perspective or personal goal, it's just scoring points in as many weekends as we can, extracting everything out of the car, and wherever that puts me at the end of the year will be what it will be," he told F1.

He added, "It's more just knowing that I've done everything I can." That statement reflects Lawson's maturity as a driver, no longer burdened by big expectations but focused on process and consistency.

Despite his impressive run, Lawson's seat for 2027 is not guaranteed, with speculation about Nikola Tsolov's potential promotion from the Red Bull academy growing stronger. However, Lawson remains unfazed. "There's no specific place that I'm trying to finish or something like that. It's very hard to have that kind of expectation in Formula 1, especially when you're in the midfield," he said.

Instead, he emphasized the importance of the team. "But if we can be the best midfield team, then I think we would have done our job as drivers as well," Lawson asserted. This attitude shows his maturity under pressure and sends a signal to the team that he is worth keeping.

With 13 races remaining, the midfield battle is expected to intensify. Lawson seems ready to face that challenge with a cool head, and every point he earns will be valuable for his future in F1.
