Liam Lawson suffered a frustrating qualifying session at Sepang, missing out on Q3 and finishing 11th after a sudden and baffling loss of pace. The result came as a major shock given his strong and encouraging form throughout the earlier practice sessions of the weekend.
The tension peaked in the dying moments of Q2 when teammate Arvid Lindblad offered a crucial tow down the back straight. That clever tactical play by Racing Bulls briefly pushed the Kiwi into the coveted top-ten threshold before everything unraveled.
Lawson's stay in the danger zone lasted mere seconds as Gabriel Bortoleto improved on his final flying lap. That late charge knocked Lawson down to 11th by a margin of just two tenths, marking the fourth time in six races he has missed the final qualifying shootout.

Racing Bulls trackside engineering head Mattia Spini admitted the team slipped backward from their FP3 performance. The squad is now left scrambling to understand the sudden drop in overall grip and tyre confidence that compromised their Saturday afternoon.
