Formula 1 championship leader Kimi Antonelli has openly reflected on the mistakes he aims to learn from this season. Amidst his stellar campaign with Mercedes, the young Italian is rapidly closing in on the world title following another dominant victory from pole position at the Circuit of the Americas.
Claiming his ninth grand prix win of the season in Austin puts the Silver Arrows star in a commanding position. He now only needs a top-nine finish at the upcoming Mexican Grand Prix to mathematically clinch the championship crown. Despite being on the cusp of motorsport history, the driver insists that continuous self-assessment remains crucial for his long-term development.
Speaking during the post-race press conference, Antonelli admitted that while the campaign has been a pleasant surprise, there is still important work to be done. He emphasized the need to improve his mindset in specific scenarios and handle high-pressure race weekend situations much better as he matures into a championship contender.

When pressed to detail the specific errors on his radar, the championship leader pointed to several notable moments from earlier in the year. He specifically recalled his crash during FP3 in Australia, a poor start execution in Japan, and throwing away valuable points due to track limits violations during the sprint race in Miami.
Adding a lighthearted moment to the press room, four-time world champion Max Verstappen couldn't resist making a playful remark about the track limits issue. Quipping about his rival's cleaner run in Austin, Verstappen joked, 'You had only one today,' prompting a swift and amused confirmation from the young championship leader.
