Kimi Antonelli has moved to the brink of a maiden world title after taking his ninth win of the 2026 Formula 1 season at the United States Grand Prix at Austin's Circuit of the Americas.
From pole, the Mercedes driver warded off early challenges and stuck strictly to the Silver Arrows' masterplan, executing a clean and flawless one-stop race strategy.
Although this ninth grand prix victory of 2026 wasn't quite enough to mathematically secure the title just yet, the 20-year-old Italian now looks fully set to become F1's youngest ever world champion at the upcoming Mexico Grand Prix.

Antonelli successfully held onto his lead at the start of the 56-lap race as second-placed Max Verstappen suffered a poor getaway. That left the Red Bull driver instantly vulnerable to Charles Leclerc, who swept past Verstappen with a high-commitment move through the Esses.
Mercedes firmly resisted Red Bull's alternative two-stop strategies, keeping their young star out on track before smoothly transitioning from mediums to hard tyres on lap 25, ultimately cruising to a sovereign victory in Texas.
