Joan Mir was forced to cut his Malaysian Grand Prix appearance short after suffering from physical issues brought on by the intense heat at the Sepang Circuit. The 2020 MotoGP world champion had made an encouraging comeback this weekend following a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to health issues that affected his vision and energy levels.
The factory Honda rider immediately showed strong pace during Friday's practice sessions, securing a direct spot in Q2 and successfully placing his RC213V machine on the 11th spot of the starting grid before finishing Saturday's Sprint in 16th position.
However, the punishing track conditions caught up with him during Sunday's main race. After executing a solid start and running inside the top ten during the opening laps, he ultimately decided to steer his machine into the pit lane on lap nine for safety reasons.

"We had already discussed with the doctors that I would stop if I started feeling dizzy due to the heat and these difficult conditions. On lap nine, I actually started feeling a bit dizzy, so I chose to pull in," the Spanish rider explained during the media debrief.
Despite the frustration of an early retirement after a promising weekend, attention now shifts towards recovering fully and preparing for the upcoming round at the Lusail International Circuit.
