Joan Mir has been officially confirmed to make his MotoGP return at the Malaysian Grand Prix after missing a substantial portion of the season due to an undisclosed illness.
The Spanish rider had already teased his comeback at Sepang via social media over the previous weekend. He had been sidelined since the Austrian Grand Prix, sitting out rounds in Japan, Indonesia, and Australia while undergoing numerous medical tests to resolve his physical condition.
Having now received full medical clearance, Mir is ready to jump back onto his machine at the exact venue of his last podium finish. “It hasn’t been an easy period, and I want to thank everyone close to me for helping to keep focused and working towards the end goal,” Mir stated.

He added that testing himself on various bikes over the past week gave him the confidence needed for the weekend ahead. “I am really looking forward to seeing the team again and seeing what we can do in these final races of the year,” he continued.
Meanwhile, fellow stablemate Luca Marini is also aiming for a successful return in Malaysia after a lingering virus forced him to sit out the action in Australia following opening practice.
