The MotoGP paddock is buzzing with a major rider shake-up ahead of the pivotal round at the Lusail International Circuit. Honda HRC has officially confirmed that Jake Dixon will step in to replace Joan Mir for this weekend's action. The decision follows Mir's recurring vision-related health issues that forced him to withdraw during the Sepang Grand Prix last weekend.
Dixon, who currently competes in the WorldSBK project for Honda, is embracing this opportunity with immense excitement. For him, piloting the factory RC213V machine is a childhood dream come true. "First of all, I have to say thank you to Honda HRC for this opportunity," Dixon stated.
The British rider added, "Getting the call to come ride one of these bikes is always mega and I am looking forward to it. I think every rider dreams of racing for the Honda factory team in MotoGP when they're a kid."

Despite having brief premier-class experience back in 2021, Dixon remains grounded. "It's been a little bit since I last raced a MotoGP bike, so we need to take the weekend steady and go step by step," he noted. Dixon also expressed his sympathy for Mir, acknowledging the difficulties the Spaniard has faced throughout a challenging season.
Dixon's arrival adds to the extensive list of stand-in riders for Honda this season. With the technical challenges awaiting at Lusail, Dixon's primary focus is to adapt quickly to the factory machinery and deliver a solid performance for the team amidst the intense heat of the world championship battle.
