Isack Hadjar is facing a potential disqualification from the Miami Grand Prix qualifying results after an alleged technical infringement was identified on his Red Bull Racing car during post-session checks by the FIA.
The young driver had secured ninth place in Q3, but that result is now under threat. Meanwhile, team-mate Max Verstappen delivered a strong performance to qualify second on the grid.
According to the technical report, the floor of Hadjar’s car was found to be protruding 2 mm beyond the permitted reference volume. In Formula 1 regulations, dimensional tolerances are extremely strict, and even minimal deviations are classified as technical breaches.
From a technical standpoint, the floor is a critical component in generating downforce through ground effect. Even a slight dimensional advantage can significantly impact aerodynamic performance, which is why it is closely regulated.
The case has been referred by the FIA’s technical delegate to the stewards for further investigation. Based on precedent, such infringements typically result in disqualification from the session.
If confirmed, Hadjar would lose his grid position and could be required to start the race from the pit lane, depending on the final ruling.
The situation adds further complexity to Red Bull’s weekend, as the team balances improved performance on one side of the garage with regulatory risk on the other.
The stewards’ final decision will determine the outcome, but the incident once again underlines the importance of strict compliance with technical regulations in modern Formula 1.
