Isack Hadjar has been officially disqualified from qualifying for the 2026 Miami Grand Prix after his Red Bull Racing car was deemed illegal following post-session checks by the FIA.

The French driver had originally qualified ninth in Q3, but the result has been nullified after it was found that both the left-hand and right-hand floor boards extended 2 mm beyond the permitted reference volume.

"The team did not dispute that portions of the floor boards exceeded the reference limits. This constitutes a breach of the technical regulations."

From a technical standpoint, the floor is a critical aerodynamic component responsible for generating downforce through ground effect. Its geometry is tightly regulated, as even minor deviations can yield measurable performance gains.

The breach of Article C3.5.5 of the FIA technical regulations results in an automatic disqualification, reflecting the strict enforcement of dimensional compliance in modern Formula 1.

As a consequence, the starting grid will be reshuffled, with all drivers behind Hadjar moving up one position. Hadjar is expected to start from the pit lane in line with standard procedures following a qualifying disqualification.

The incident adds complexity to Red Bull’s weekend, which has otherwise shown improved performance through Max Verstappen at the front of the grid.

In an era of increasingly precise technical regulations, this case underlines how even millimetre-level infringements can carry significant competitive consequences.
