Speculation about Christian Horner's future at Ferrari has resurfaced. In a recent interview, veteran journalist Pino Allievi discussed the Englishman's potential move to Maranello, highlighting a potential clash if Horner demands full autonomy.
Allievi believes Horner's appeal to Ferrari is significant. “Before Vasseur, John Elkann had contacted Horner. I assume he even went to his home in England. So Horner is liked by Ferrari, by the Ferrari environment, and rightly so,” he said. Horner's track record in leading Red Bull Racing to multiple world titles, and nurturing drivers like Vettel and Verstappen, makes him hard to ignore.
However, Allievi points out the main obstacle: Horner's request for carte blanche. “Horner is a very wise and shrewd person. When he asks for carte blanche, he will find a president who tells him: ‘I have a CEO, Benedetto Vigna: you must report to him, deal with him’,” he explained. This could prevent Horner from being the 'number one' he wants to be.

Allievi also dismissed the notion that Horner's interest is merely for book promotion. “I don't believe Horner needs a sensational headline to sell a few copies of his book. In Formula 1 I've seen everything, so you can make a thousand assumptions,” he stressed. Ferrari reportedly approached Horner before hiring Vasseur, indicating genuine interest.
Nevertheless, Allievi sees many difficulties in realising this move. “That's why I see many difficulties for Horner's arrival at Maranello. That he sees himself as the saviour of the fatherland in his dreams, I understand. But it remains a dream at the moment, unless Ferrari substantially changes its structure,” he concluded.
As of now, neither Ferrari nor Horner have made official comments. The situation remains speculation, intriguing to follow, especially ahead of the 2026 season with major regulation changes.
