Hamilton Dismisses Ground-Effect Era Adaptation Theory TO NEWS OVERVIEW
Hamilton finds himself chasing Kimi Antonelli for the F1 title

Lewis Hamilton has swatted away suggestions that he failed to adapt to the ground-effect regulations after a resurgent start to the 2026 Formula 1 season. Eleven rounds into the new rules cycle, Hamilton looks reinvigorated with Ferrari.

Just 12 months ago, the seven-time World Champion seemed on the verge of quitting F1. After three difficult years with Mercedes (2022-2024), he made a shock switch to Ferrari. But his maiden season with the Italian marque turned out to be his toughest yet, finishing without a single podium.

This fueled the theory that Hamilton struggled with the ground-effect cars. However, with the 2026 'Nimble Car' concept, he feels more at home. "I can drive it a little bit more like the previous generation of cars," he said. "The races I won in the previous generation, I drove exactly the same as I do today."

Heading into the summer break, Hamilton has already secured five podiums, including his maiden win for Ferrari at Barcelona. He now trails championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli by 50 points ahead of the Dutch GP.

Hamilton explained that today's cars are easier and lighter, without bouncing. But throttle and power management are new challenges. "Understanding when to go half-throttle or 10% off changes deployment through the lap," he added.

His experience could prove crucial against the 19-year-old title rival. If he succeeds, Hamilton would become the most successful F1 driver ever with an unprecedented eighth title.
