Isack Hadjar is set to make his Formula 1 return at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix this weekend after recovering from a wrist injury sustained during the summer break. The 21-year-old Frenchman missed the last three races in the Netherlands, Monza, and Madrid, with Liam Lawson filling in for Red Bull Racing.
Hadjar, who will remain with Red Bull until 2027 as confirmed earlier this week, expressed his excitement about returning. "It's good to come back in these conditions. I'm really looking forward to driving again," he said. "The last time I touched the steering wheel was in Budapest, so it's been a very long time. It's a challenging track to come back to, but I'm excited."
The Frenchman revealed that his injury was a small fracture on the outside of the wrist, which did not require surgery. "It's still going to be painful for a while, but it's getting stronger. I had a test on the simulator and it went well. If it's fine on the sim, I should be okay on track," he explained.
During his absence, Hadjar missed the competition and the pressure of racing. "When you step out and realise that life is a bit flat and boring, you just want to come back. It's been a few frustrating weeks. Now it's good to be back in the fight," he added.
Looking ahead to the Baku weekend, Hadjar is optimistic about his chances. "The car is competitive and I just want to be in the fight with the guys ahead," he stated. The Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be a tough test, but Hadjar is ready to help Red Bull score crucial points in the midfield battle.
